You’ve opened up your atlas and you’re wondering which destination to go to in the world for the best pride.
You’re stuck, aren’t you?
How can you measure which destination has the best pride?
Luckily for you and I, HomeToGo has compiled the Pride Index 2019 to help you find the best cities to visit for Pride. After all, you want a great holiday out of it, don’t you?
So, how is the Pride Index 2019 compiled?
Using information provided by the International LGBTQ+ Travel Association (IGLTA) to identify hundreds of Pride festivals around the world, they used five categories to score for each of the locations:
- The ease of travelling to the destination
- The Pride festival’s year-on-year growth rate
- The city’s LGBTQ+ nightlife
- The LGBTQ+ friendliness of local laws
- The affordability of local accommodation
As a result, out came the top 50 festivals! You can find out more about the scoring here: Pride Index 2019
Let’s have a look at the top 10:
It’s really interesting to see that the top three are in places where Spanish and Portuguese is spoken. And more importantly, I haven’t been to any of the prides in the top 10 yet although I have visited six of the destinations outside of their pride festivals.
